Boating Laws
The Allegheny reservoir is a huge man-made lake that is surrounded by 99 miles of shoreline. It covers 21,180 acres. People can bring any type of boat from a speed boats, house boats, to canoes and kayaks. There are some rules that everyone must follow:
- Persons shall wear a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device at all times when on board boats less than 16 feet in length or any canoe or kayak.
- Boats are limited to slow, no wake speed in the following areas:
- In the vicinity of camping areas and boat launch areas.
- Dew Drop Bay.
- Wolf Run Bay.
- Hodge Bay, North and South Branch.
- Cornplanter Bay.
- Billies Bay.
- Willow Bay beginning at the boat launch ramp
